Chapter 1. Designing Complex Hierarchies
The essential component to a well-performing hierarchy is a good design. Without a good design, you can find yourself having issues in your environment, such as under- or over-utilized resources or an environment that does not meet the initial requirements. The design should be a single point where everyone can look and see how the hierarchy should be built, operated, and maintained.
In this chapter, we will explore many components that make up a good design. We will be covering the following topics:
- How to make sure you select the appropriate site system server
- How to design fault tolerant environments
- How to properly back up and restore a Configuration Manager site
- How to design for multiple trusted forests
- How to design for nontrusted forests
- A working design scenario example
