8.3 Welding Preparations
8.3.1 Welding guidance documents shall be prepared in accordance with the welding procedure qualification(WPQ),etc.prior to welding.
8.3.2 All welding electrodes,wires and fluxes shall be placed in a dry,well-ventilated warehouse with temperature more than 5℃and air humidity less than 60%.
8.3.3 All welding electrodes and fluxes shall be baked as specified in the instructions.Repeated baking shall not be done more than twice.Electrodes used for key positions shall be stored in a special insulation can where the temperature is kept at 100-150℃so that they are readily available when required.
8.3.4 All welding wires shall remove all rust,dirt and oil stain before application.
8.3.5 Shield gases for vertical electric/gas welding shall have a maximum water content of 0.005%,and shall be preheated and dried prior to application.
8.3.6 The following shall be done prior to welding:(1)The assembling quality inspection;(2)The removal of all sand,rust,moisture and oil stain on the groove surface and within 20mm from the groove both sides;and(3)Sufficient drying.Before assembling the weldment,all oil,paint,dirt or rust on the weld surface and on the inner and outer walls of the adjacent base metal shall be removed to show the metal luster.
